At Times Like This

Alzheimers is a very cruel illness. In it's early stages the sufferer understands what is happening and can be very confused and frightened experiencing mood swings. For the partner it can be even worse as they can see what's happening and feel so helpless wishing that somehow the clock could be turned back to happier times

When I first met you, you were laughing
You were laughing most of the time
Now you're crying, softly crying
But you won't tell me what is on your mind

Chorus
At times like this I don't know what's happening
At times like this I don't know what to do
At times like this I feel so helpless
At times like this I feel I'm losing you

Now you're walking, you're not talking
You're just walking so slowly away
I am calling, but you don't answer
It seems you just can't hear the words I say

chorus

You look so frightened, it's more than worry
You look so frightened but there's nothing there
Now you're trembling, I want to hold you
I'd do anything to show you that I care

chorus

When I first met you, you were laughing
You were laughing most of the time
Now I'd do anything, just to hear you laughing
Just to hear you laughing, just one more time

chorus
