Be Careful How You're Wishing

On returning from a very pleasant few hours at a whisky tasting event I decided to list some of the special whiskies that I had tasted. It seemed to me that the easiest way was to find them on Amazon and put them in my wish list. It would have worked except that I accidentally put one of the delicious malts in my basket rather than in my wish list. (Un)fortunately it was around 4x the price I normally pay for a whisky. That in itself wouldn't have been a problem but it stayed in my basket until I ordered something else and then I didn't notice it. When the whisky arrived I decided it was fate and had to try it. The malt was delicious and it turned out to be a very pleasant mistake. However I thought that I'd write this song as a warning to others!

You really must be careful when you use the internet
It can cost you dearly, some things you might regret
So leave your PC switched off when you've had a drink or two
Hide your laptop and your tablet keep your mobile out of view
I was browsing for some whisky whilst logged in on Amazon
I meant to put one in my wish list, it was a pricey one
Instead I put it in my basket as I clicked without a care
When I later ordered something else, I didn't realise it was there

Chorus

Be careful how your wishing and what you’re wishing for
If you press the wrong button it might end up at your door

The next day there was a courier asking me to sign
For this mysterious package I didn't recognise as mine
I couldn't guess the contents no matter how I tried.
Later when I opened it I saw the whiskey was inside
Now I know I should have sent it back It was an easy thing to do
But the more I gazed upon it the more my interest grew
They had described it as a mellow malt, with flavours sweet and rare
It had been aged in sherry barrels dried in the desert air

Chorus

So I turned the bottle in my hand and watched it catch the light
I admired the amber colour as it glowed so pure and bright
I had to check the flavour so I poured out one small dram
Now I was committed with the whisky in my hand
Well of course the one dram quickly led to two
And then I had another followed by a few
More glasses of that nectar, and as my head began to swim
I picked up my tablet to start looking  for some gin
