Duck Shooting
Usually in songs and poems about war, soldiers are usually portrayed as victims of the system, often unwillingly conscripted, or entering service with the promise of learning a trade or skill. This might well be true in many cases, but for some soldiers the attraction is simply the opportunity to fight. This is the story of two friends who enjoy hunting but want something more.
Me and my pal are going out duck shooting
Me and my pal are going out duck shooting
We don’t eat duck but we don’t mind
We’re going to shoot any ducks we find
Me and my pal are going out duck shooting
My pal told me when we were out duck shooting
My pal told me when we were out duck shooting
Wouldn’t duck shooting be more fun
If those ducks were to carry guns
Me and my pal are going out duck shooting
Me and my pal are going to join the army
Me and my pal are going to join the army
The sergeant beckoned us inside
And said “You lads will do just fine”
Me and my pal are going out duck shooting
Me and my pal are fighting for the army
Me and my pal are fighting for the army
The village is full of terrorists
We must crush them with an iron fist
Me and my pal are going out duck shooting
Me and pal are flying in a Chinook transport
Me and pal are flying in a Chinook transport
My pal said "Look at that guy down there,
He’s firing a missile in the air"
Me and my pal are going out duck shooting
Me and my pal are going out duck shooting
Me and my pal are going out duck shooting
We don’t eat duck but we don’t mind
We’re going to shoot any ducks we find
Me and my pal are going out duck shooting
