On The Beach
In 1983 the government closed a 10-mile stretch of coast between Eskmeals and St Bees following high radioactive discharges from Sellafield. At the time a Sellafield spokesman said that he couldn't understand what all the fuss was about because in his opinion the beaches were perfectly safe provided people took sensible precautions and wore wellington boots and didn't touch anything ....
The beaches were opened again after a short while, unlike the beach featured in this song.
The beach is deserted, there's nobody there
Just two seagulls flying through the air
And a laser gun spins round as death is brought to bear
They’ve got to stop contamination ever leaving there

The houses are all empty everybody's gone
They were evacuated when they found something was wrong
