Share If You Agree

Some people say that Facebook is like Marmite - you either love it or hate it. This song is about my early experiences on Facebook and my surprise at some of the things that people think is appropriate to post.

There are a lot of reports of burglaries following Facebook and other social media posts. A high profile example in 2017 was when John & Toni Terry were burgled after posting a holiday snap on social media tipping off the villains that their house was empty. They made off with £400,000. So, be careful and heed the warning in the last verse!

Chorus

If I've got a problem I just talk to a friend
It's better like that for me
Press share if you agree
Press like if you still like me

Some friends are telling me how they feel
It seems they want the world to know
Whether they're happy or whether they're sad
Or whether they're just a bit low
And others are sharing their life with me
"Look what I've achieved today!"
Or "Look at this photo of my new tattoo"
Or "My head with the hair shaved away"

chorus

Someone's done something silly - it's a bit on the edge
It's been videoed shakily
He couldn't resist the urge to post it online
For his Facebook friends to see
But one of them shares it and it's been shared again
It's gone viral with six million views
The police are talking to the hapless fool
It's all over the six o'clock news

chorus

It's nice to see two of my friends have gone
On a lovely sunny holiday
"We've just arrived and we're here for a week
It's a fantastic place to stay"
But if Burglar Bill is one of their friends
He won't press like but he will be
So happy to know that they've gone away
And that their house is standing empty
For him and his skeleton key
